New battery technology has become a must-have for “future energy solutions,” according to the world’s largest battery maker.
The company’s Elon Musk says he thinks “the lithium ion” battery could be used to power “a new generation of energy systems,” according the Wall Street Journal.
The battery is an extremely powerful form of energy storage, which allows devices to store power while not being overwhelmed by the energy demands of a typical home.
Its the same technology Tesla used to produce the electric cars, but it can also be used in consumer devices, such as cars and appliances, to store energy and deliver it when needed.
Tesla’s battery is called “Tesla Powerwall,” and it uses two electrodes of lithium in tandem to generate electricity.
Tesla is building a $1.6 billion battery factory in Nevada to make the batteries.
It’s hoped to begin production later this year.
According to Tesla, its Powerwall batteries can store 100 kilowatts of power, which is equivalent to over 20 years of daily use.
It claims the batteries could be useful for cars, as well as electric and hybrid vehicles.
Tesla said its batteries have an estimated 5-7 years of life, and can produce enough power to last up to 50,000 miles.
That’s far beyond the typical life span of most consumer electronics batteries.
