New York Ranger defenseman JT Brodeur is expected on Tuesday to be the next captain of his NHL club.
The New York Islanders and Buffalo Sabres have been linked to Brodeurs name.
The Rangers have had four captains in the last seven years: Brad Richards, JT Miller, Jason Pominville and Alexei Emelin.
Brodeur had 14 goals and 21 assists in 73 games this season for the Rangers, who have the NHL’s worst record.
They are in last place in the Metropolitan Division.
Broze is one of two players who have been a full-time starter for the NHL since the expansion season in 2011.
The other is Ryan McDonagh, who played in all 82 regular season games last season with the Buffalo Sabres.
McDonagh had three goals and six assists in 35 games this year with the Rangers.
