A recent study by the Pew Research Center found that religious people are now more likely than nonreligious Americans to use technology to connect with friends, family and coworkers, and to share stories about religion.
While that is good news, it doesn’t mean that the tech revolution is going to be the same as it was in the past.
And as it turns out, we’re not going to see a huge change in the way that religious faith works.
The Pew study shows that, for now, people in faith traditions are just as likely to be religious as nonreligious people.
There’s a big gap in that difference, but Pew’s researchers suggest that we can work to close that gap.
“We have the most positive relationship of any religious group with technology in the world,” said Michael R. Farber, director of the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life.
And he said that there’s still work to be done to bring technology into the lives of religious people.
“There are many things that we do not know about how technology is affecting religious life,” he said.
“In many ways, we have not had a chance to fully engage with this technology yet.”
Religious leaders say they’re seeing more and more positive interactions with technology, and they’re hopeful that the trend is continuing.
But it’s not the first time that technology has led to positive changes in religious life.
“Technology is changing the world, but it is not changing religion,” said Rev. Dr. Steven J. Jones, executive director of Focus on the Family, a Christian organization.
He said that the fact that the technology revolution is happening at all shows how far we have to go.
“For the most part, we’ve been told by our elders that technology is going away, but that’s not true,” he told Mashable.
“The reality is that the world is changing, and technology is the engine of change.
Technology is an incredible engine of growth, but we’ve got to get on board with it.”
Jones said that while technology has changed how we live, it has not changed our religious life, because “we have a very good relationship with technology.”
“We’ve had a tremendous outpouring of love and support for this technology, but the reality is the world has changed,” he added.
He pointed out that the internet is now widely used to distribute news, and the number of people who have access to it is on the rise.
And while there are many religious groups in the US, “we’ve got a lot of non-religious people in our country,” Jones said.
Some people may not be interested in technology to begin with, he added, but “we can see more and better relationships with technology.
We’ve had some really great relationships with the internet.”
“The more we have technology, the more we get to know it,” Jones added.
And what’s the answer to that?
Some of the big changes that religious leaders are seeing are more connected and more personal, while others are more technical.
“You know, for instance, the relationship of technology to religious people has never been stronger,” said Farber.
“I don’t think that there was ever a better time in the history of human history to have a deeper and more intimate relationship with the divine than we have today.”
Farber said that it’s very important to build up trust in technology, because it can bring a lot to people.
But while the internet has brought new possibilities, “it’s still very new to most of us,” he continued.
“It’s very exciting, but there are challenges.”
